The Souris Valley Museum is getting ready for its first season since expanding. The museum received a grant last year, which allowed them to make the additions.

"The expansion includes two washrooms and a programming space," explains Director Curator, Mark Veneziano. "It also gives us access to running water which we did not have in the past."

The expansion will also allow the museum to remain open past the summer months.

"Now we'll be able to be open year round for the community to come out. That's why we have a lot of new programs in the works right now because we've never had a spring season before nor have we ever had a fall and winter season. So we're excited to be open and we're looking forward to our new programs."

Veneziano adds that there is an archaeology camp which is currently running and there will be several programs for all ages in July and August.

The museum will open officially on May 1, Monday to Friday from 9:30 am until 4:40 pm. After the May Long Weekend, it will be open seven days a week until the end of August.

"May 27 is our Cowpokes and Cookouts, which will be the official Grand Reopening of the museum." add Veneziano.
