An incident on Friday evening in Estevan will serve as a reminder to the community to keep a close eye when your making supper.

Estevan Fire Rescue were called to the Marisa Condos apartment building on third street around 8pm Friday night after smoke triggered the fire alarm and evacuated the building.

"Upon arrival, we checked the alarm panel at the bottom of the building and it advised us that there were smoke alarms going off on the 3rd floor," stated Deputy Fire Chief Rick Davies on the scene.

"Crews arrived, went upstairs and searched, and found the apartment with a cooking-related incident."

Fire crews ventilated the area and the tenants returned to their homes shortly thereafter.

Deputy Davies added that they would consult with Fire Chief Dale Feser on whether or not the home owner would be charged for a preventative fire alarm.
