As City Council gets together for their regular biweekly meeting tonight, several hot topics will hit the docket for dialogue.

Among those is the fate of the Civic Auditorium. The inspecting engineers' report will be made available for public perusal in advance.

"Looking at the reports with the high, medium and low priorities, we're looking at around $5,000,000, which are probable costs that could escalate. Then, at the end of the day, we still have a 60 year old building, so we'll be having talks around that," shared Mayor Roy Ludwig.

"In my opinion, we'll have to leave it closed. I don't think we want to put in good money after that. However, that is my opinion, and you'll hear the Councillors' opinions and respectfully we'll go from there."

Members will also discuss the possibility of waiving the $10,000 retainer attached to having the Estevan Fire and Rescue's services extend to Woodlawn Park. Normally the City provides $7,500 worth of work in kind on the road and such, so they may attach the retainer amount to that instead.

"That will put the Fire Service Agreement in place, but if there is a fire, heaven forbid of course, they would have to shoulder the costs of that. This is just the annual agreement retainer that the City is being asked to waive, which is around $10,000," Ludwig explained.

The Massage Parlor Bylaw will also see it's second and third readings after being introduced at the last meeting, and a user group from minor hockey will give a presentation at the beginning of the evening regarding the Civic.
