Currently most fire bans are still remaining in effect.

"We did receive a brief amount of precipitation but there's currently not enough in order to lift any of the fire bans that are currently in place," explained Estevan's Fire Chief Dale Fieser.

"We're going to wait to see what's going to happen here over the next week and continue to re-evaluate. The dew point is up there and humidity is up there as well but we're not anticipating a lot of forecasted moisture coming after this."

With the hot and dry weather lasting a while in the Energy City there have been fire bans around the area.

"It's not getting worse here, it just kind of held us over for a day or two but of course it's not just the heat but also the wind conditions. We get high wind conditions that also saps nsome of the moisture out of the vegetation as well, so that can be just as detrimental to the fire conditions as hot and dry conditions," he shared.

"The RM of Reciprocity has lifted their fire ban for now however if you take a look at Highway 13 which is Stoughton or even the Benson area, they've had quite a bit more moisture than we have had so the RM of Estevan number 5 as well as the RM of Cambria number 6 are still in an area where it's dryer than the other area."
