It was an early call for the Estevan Fire Department this morning as they were called to a building in the south part of Estevan.

"Right around 8 am this morning, the Estevan Fire Department was alerted to a possible structure fire. The occupants of a commercial occupancy had entered the shop environment, they found the building filled with smoke. A subsequent 911 call was placed and Estevan fire crews attended the scene."

"There was no active structure fire found inside. We did a thermal scan of the building using our thermal imaging camera. We were unable to find the source of the smoke. The building manager has been asked to contact an electrician as well as a plumbing company to check the gas fired appliances as well as the electrical heating appliances. Those appliances were secured  and all power shut off to them just for safety reasons until the contractor could get in there and verify that they are operable."

Chief Feser added that there was no damage to the building and no injuries reported. he mentioned that it is important to call 911 immediately if you see or smell smoke.

"You don't want to hesitate in these types of matters. IF there's smoke or the smell of smoke, there very well could be a fire that's hidden within the walls or concealed spaces so you want to alert the fire department as soon as possible so we can get there with the special equipment that we have so we can find out the source of the smell or the smoke may be.
