It is Fire Prevention week here in the Energy City and the Estevan Fire and Rescue Department have teamed up with a local restaurant in a creative and fun way to make sure you and your family are safe.

"We're going to be doing the same thing that we did last year," explained Fire Chief, Dale Feser. "And what we have done is team up with the Tower restaurant again. The Sereggela family has just been excellent in support anytime when the fire department is doing any initiatives like this."

"What we're doing again this year is when people are ordering food from the Tower restaurant, you may see us show up with the deliver vehicle. We're going to come in, we're going to check your home and make sure the smoke alarms are working and functioning correctly and properly. And we're also going to ask you a little questionnaire, making sure everyone knows two ways out. This is the theme of the year this year for Fire Prevention Week: When seconds count, Know two ways out."

"We're really focusing on making sure people know ways out of any room or any home or any structure that they may be occupying at any time for their safety."

He added that when the firefighters enter your home, and find that it is safe, you will be eligible for a gift certificate for a free pizza from the Tower.

The Fire Department will be running the promotion today and Friday.

As well, the Bruins are recognizing Emergency Service workers at their game on Thursday, October 12.

"We'll be at Affinity Place with other emergency services so you can come and visit us there and we will have smoke alarms available and some questionnaires to fill out. There will be a ceremonial puck drop for that particular game."

"We cannot thank the Estevan Bruins organization enough for this. This is something that is new and greatly appreciated."
