Fred Fox spoke at Sacred Heart School this morning.Fred Fox, the older brother of the late Terry Fox was in Estevan today sharing the message his brother started 38 years ago. He attended four schools in the city including Sacred Heart and he shared that he was happy he got the chance to speak here.

"Estevan is a place where I've driven through many, many, many years," he mentioned in an interview with Discover Estevan. "My mom is from Melita, Manitoba so the way we would always get there driving from British Columbia when we were visiting so I'm glad to be here for a couple days."

"It's a great opportunity. All of the schools I'm visiting have done the Terry Fox Run for more than 15-20 years and it's an opportunity for us to say thank you and share a little bit about Terry that maybe some of the students and even the staff or parents don't know."

Fox showed through a slideshow presentation of family pictures of Terry as a child, growing up, and throughout the historic run that while Terry Fox has reached a level of celebrity and renown, he was just a regular guy, just like those hearing the presentation today.

"They might just know from what they see in a video or a movie they saw on TV or something they read in a book but I'm hoping with my presentation today that I can share that Terry was just like them, just an average, ordinary kid who had the same dreams that they so as kids."

"When Terry was running across Canada, it was obvious, he wanted everyone to know, this wasn't something that he was doing for himself. No ego trip, he wasn't doing it to become rich or famous. In fact, when Terry passed, he didn't have a dime to his name. It was all about helping other people and people saw that across Canada and they still see that today."

Schools across the southeast will be hosting their own Terry Fox runs throughout September.
