Yesterday, Fresh Air Fitness were the recipients of a $5000.00 check donation from Affinity Credit Union. Peggy Rohatyn with Fresh Air Fitness explained a few of the things they are planning to use the money for.

"We have a couple of projects on the go that we'd like to do. we are getting a new entry sign where all the donors will be listed ad well as the rules. We are hoping to get a path over to the shelter so that people that have difficulty walking on rough surfaces or getting around can get to the equipment."

"We have new equipment we need to buy for the for the accessible area and the pit, as we call it. There's a balancing structure, climbing wall, a Tai Chi wheel for shoulder injuries and we are open to suggestions."

Debbie Knight added, " We talked about getting a wheel chair swing at some time. It's something I never really thought of, but a child that lives their whole life in a wheel chair doesn't get to have that swinging motion that we all love so much, so if we build a swing that you can pull a wheel chair right on to, then they can swing."

They also have ideas to add on to the yoga platform. They added that the possibilities are endless.

Peggy Rohatyn explained how they received the donation, "We applied for it but, the Credit Union was very kind and said, "if you have any projects on the go you should apply for this." We were encouraged to apply for, it this is the second one we got from them and they have been very generous both times. It's a great organization and they are very community minded. they love to give back."

The Fresh Air fitness area has many people who use it often, some of the people who have used the area are yoga instructors who run classes off donations, home schools, mothers with young children and many more.

Debbie Knight also shared, "We have a race coming up. The coal country run race is coming up on October 20th and all the money from that goes back to Fresh Air Fitness."

They added that the Coal Country Run is a fun walk/run race for the whole family and for more information you can contact Peggy or Debbie and applications are available at Henders Drugs.
