The Estevan Girl Guides are known for delicious cookies, but they have a great program that you can sign up for at City-wide as well.

Christa Morhart says, "Were the Estevan Girl Guides but were part of the black gold district which includes Estevan, Arcola, Carnduff, and Lampman girls.

It's quite a diverse organization catering to girls between the ages of 5 all the way to 18. Morhart mentions, "So we have a Sparks branch that they would start at, and then they would move onto Brownies, and the next age group would be Girl Guides, followed by our Pathfinders, followed by our senior group the Rangers. And we also have a new group this year Extra Op for girls 12 years and up, and its more of a flexible meeting and we will be doing more fun and engaging things. And getting out in the community more to help out."

With the kind of activities they do, "Well our programming and our tagline is 'Everything she wants to be," so we're all about empowering women and girls to be everything they can be. So there are various activities, so we do themes like Mighty Minds, and we have camping involved of course. Friendship, we want to focus on the girls having friendships and getting out in the community. Helping out and being a good steward in the community, there are arts and crafts, we do outings, last year we had the girls tour the Shand Greenhouse for example. And we participated in clean-up day, in the province of Saskatchewan in May. And our little Sparks participated in the shoreline activity clean-up as well."

Their regular meeting times, "Well, the Sparks and the Brownies meet on Monday Evening's, and the Girl Guides/Pathfinder's meet on Wednesday evening. Ranger's have a flexible schedule, based on the girls that are in attendance. And the Extra Ops have a flexible schedule as well."

And they would like to have over 100 girls between all the branches, "Last year we were around that 75 mark. So we're hoping to grow to around 100. The last few years we've seen growth, in both girl memberships and adult memberships. Estevan has been extremely blessed, we have taken on 8 new Guider's in the last 5 years. Guiders are the adult members and those women have really stepped up and committed to giving the girls an experience that they'll have for a lifetime. But we're always welcoming more adults as well. We're always looking for volunteers, and if you want to get a head start you can always head over to the Girl Guides website. Click on the link to become a volunteer and you can apply online, and someone will get in touch with you and get the process going."

It's a great program to empower young women and to create memories that will last a lifetime.
