Estevan Habitat for Humanity's house building project is coming down to the wire as winter makes it's way into the province.

They fortunately managed to complete the majority of the outside work just in time for the snow and cold temperatures.

"We got the sod in and the fence up during the nice weather, and just finished up on the verandas and decks when we got that first snowfall," shared Secretary Calvin Johnson.

"The heating people have got the furnace in, they're just working on the duct-work for the water heater and HVAC. They got the heat on, so we have that in the house now. The kitchen cabinets are in, the floor has all been laid, we've got the shelving and closets in and trim-work done. We're just finishing up the baseboards and a few touch ups. It's probably 98 percent complete."

He noted that they will probably hold their key ceremony in early December, by which time they will be complete. In the meantime, they will have to have the house appraised by a mortgager and other such paperwork.

"We're thinking that, by the end of next week, we should be pretty much complete. That's our timeline right now."

Johnson added that the Habitat family has been quite involved with the project, and are getting excited to finally move in.
