Thanksgiving may be past here in Canada, however, a couple of local organizations are freshly feeling thankful after being handed cheques from a local business.

One of those groups was the Estevan chapter of Habitat for Humanity, who received over $5,000 from Fire Sky Energy.

"We're very pleased to accept this from Fire Sky. It's been something that we've been talking to them about for several months, and we're very happy with the donation that they have provided for us," expressed Chairman Doug Barnstable.

He added that the funds will go toward their current construction project.

"Doug approached us back in January or Feburary, looking for some donations. We reveiwed the cause, and it was something that we wanted to give to the community," shared Fire Sky's Vice President of Finance, Tracey Ward.

"We generally do one organization, but this year we decided to split it up. In the past we've done the St. Joseph's Hosptial and United Way. This year it was nice to divide it up and support two."

The second recipient of funds was the Estevan Family Resource Center.
