With just under a month of work left to do, Estevan's Habitat for Humanity is looking forward to finishing their first ever house build.

"We're at the point where we're working on outside railings," explained Doug Barnstable, chair of the steering committee. "We've got all the flooring installed and most of the interior doors except for the bi-fold closet doors. the cabinets are onsite so they'll be going in this weekend. And we've got the majority of the plumbing installed and we're looking at hopeful having that completed by next week."

"We've just completed the fence and sod the last couple weeks outside so we have gates to complete on those and then once the railing are done on the decks, we'll have all the outside completed and just be focusing on the  final touch-ups, finishing baseboards and casings, that kind of thing. Closets, shelving and pantry are on the list of things to do."

"Tentatively we're looking at a key ceremony the week of the 24th of November and we're just waiting on confirmation from Regina on that."

He added that volunteers and workers are getting exciting seeing the end of the project approaching.

"I think everyone's getting a little bit more excited as they see the final touches go on so everyone's anxious to get it wrapped up. We've got the flooring all covered right now for protection and we'll be pulling that up and be doing some of the clean up in the last week likely before the key ceremony. every is anxious to get some of the final touches on and get on with the key ceremony."

He also mentioned that the recipients of the house, Stephanie Bramham, and her daughter, are also looking forward to the end of the build.

"She's excited about getting that done and looking at what she's got to do to get the rest of her hours in. She's very close on the hours already."

"She has to have 150 hours in herself and 350 hours from her family members and friends are already completed and it's just a matter of her getting the lat 10-15 hours in which she shouldn't have any problem doing over the next couple weeks."
