Happy Little Hooves Sanctuary held their open house/grand opening on Saturday which was a great success.

“We invited the public to come out to meet all out Littles, pet them and hear their stories," shared Laura Stock. "We had a concession, a silent auction, and some little stuffy for sale. We’ve seen a lot of people come through, so we are very excited about that. We had a hoof presentation, so my sister who is the president, did a hoof demo to show all the interesting things that have to do with horse hooves, little hooves, and the difference between horse hooves and donkey hooves."

"Then our other director at large, who is also a certified raise horse groom, she did a gelding cleaning demo, so that’s where you clean their sheath and make sure that they can properly go to the bathroom. Then I did a first aid demo where I went through the ABC’s of first aid, then I showed people how to wrap a wound properly and showed them how to take temperature, heart rate and respiratory.”

Each presentation was full of information and gave the public a chance to see all the care that goes into each animal at the sanctuary. The sanctuary currently has 15 sanctuary animals. There are four ponies, two donkeys, A mini mule and the rest are mini horses.

“They started showing up in 2012, but we only became official as a corporation in January of 2019. Our webpage is happylittlehooves.com, and we accept donations of money, if anyone wants to donate hay, we are all for that we always need hay, and we also have sponsorship packages. So if you do not own a pony, but you would like to feel like you do you can sponsor one of our Littles here at the sanctuary, and you can find that on our webpage.”
