Spring is blooming, and the dirt is thawing. With that, road construction will be starting on the roads around the province. Although many areas of government and industry received major funding cuts affecting their operations, the Ministry of Highways was not one of them, and they are on track to resume or begin several priority projects.

One of these is the Highway 39 twinning project between Estevan and Bienfait. David Marit, the Saskatchewan Minister of Highways and Infrastructure, shared an update on the progress.

"It's moving along pretty good, and we're hoping that it will be completed by the end of the year."

"There's a bridge for the new two lane overpass part  that is going to be done, realigning a junction on Highways 39 and 18 to bring it to a right angle, and of course the paving work," he explained.

"As far as we are concerned, the project is on time and on budget," added Marit.

"We're pretty happy about that, and hopefully we will see completion of it by the end of this year."
