As a driver in Saskatchewan, you are required to provide your name, address, driver's licence number and vehicle licence plate number to any other persons involved in a collision, regardless of the severity. You should also record the licence plate number of all vehicles involved in the collision. The sooner The incident is reported the sooner repairs can be made for the damage caused.

"If someone's vehicle is damaged in a hit and run, it should be reported to the police," explains Tyler McMurchy, SGI’s Manager of Media Relations. "You'll want to include the time and place it took place and if there's witness information, a licence plate that somebody may have seen. We encourage people to notify the police, especially when the customer knows when and where it happened. It's possible that the offending driver left a note on the victim's windshield and that note simply flew off and this would be the opportunity to link the accident up with the person who may believe they actually took the steps to get in contact with the vehicle owner. As far as SGI is concerned, you should report it to SGI as soon as you reasonably can, also include any information you can."

If you commit an accident it's best to find the vehicle's owner in order to exchange information and then report the incident to SGI. If you have been in an accident or are apart of a hit and run, there are two ways to submit a claim, You can report your claim online using the SGI Auto eClaim registration service, or call Dial-A-Claim at the claims centre closest to your home.
