It's no surprise that the Home Hardware Canada Cup has been the main topic all week from the players to the volunteers, it's a big event that is going to have a great impact on the city of Estevan.

"We knew Estevan would serve it up in a positive matter and. We are not surprised by that, it's a great market, a great building and great volunteers, said Al Cameron Director of Media Relations and Communications for Curling Canada.

The Home Hardware Canada Cup is not only a great event to watch, but it also has a great effect on the community where it's held. There is an estimated economic impact of two to four million dollars to our community from this type of event. Events such as the Home Hardware Canada Cup has a great impact, legacy, and can bring a lot of money to the area's hotels, restaurants, other similar businesses.

Another reason this event is so great is it interests the youth into curling. some of the youth watching the Home Hardware Canada Cup have never heard of curling and will walk away with knowledge of the game and may even join the local curling club. Events like this are also a great way to find the next Olympian Curlers.

"You look out on the ice and there are young players all over the place as well. The next winter Olympics is 2020 in Beijing, our focus is mostly on that but don't think for a minute that Curling Canada isn't thinking about 2026, 2030, or 2034 because you can't start preparing too early."
