It's just over one month until Christmas day and the Salvation Army is already hard at work preparing.

"We are going right straight into our busy season," shared Ronza Reynard, Family Services Coordinator with the Salvation Army. "Right now we have our Teddy Bear Toss with the Estevan Bruins."

"We're looking for people to bring in new or gently used teddy bears to participate in the event and to throw on the ice when the Bruins score their first goal of the game."

"Teddy bears go to a wide variety of people. We have people who come into the store and if they need teddy bears, we give them to people with kids that need teddy bears."

"We take them to the seniors' homes in the area. We bring the seniors some calendars, teddy bears, and some light reading if they want it."

Teddy bears will also be handed out at their summer camps for the younger kids who may get a bit homesick being away from home at camp.

The Salvation Army is also looking forward to the holiday season as they ramp up the rest of their programs.

"Next week we start our kettle kickoff. That starts on the 29th and runs till the 22nd of December."

They are still looking for volunteers for people to ring bells at the different spots throughout the city.

"It's also the time of year when people if they need assistance at Christmas time, to call in and apply for their Christmas hamper. That's a pretty simple process, they can call down to the office, submit the name and some other information and we can get them set up to get a Christmas hamper."

The cut off to apply for a hamper is December 7th.
