It's one thing to receive a visit from the Easter Bunny but it's another to receive a bunny for Easter. That's what the Humane Society is warning people before they decide to buy a rabbit for an Easter present.

"With Easter, it's a big season for gifting bunnies and then not working out," shared Elizabeth Murphy with the Estevan Humane Society. "It's definitely a stereotype that we see from time to time."

And it's not just Easter, many holidays will see loved ones gifting puppies and kittens without thinking of the long-term responsibility that a living animal entails.

"This year, it's actually been really good. We haven't had any animals that were given as gifts. We were very thankful for that."

So if you plan on giving a bunny to your loved one this year, make sure that it is chocolate. Otherwise, leave the gifting to the Easter Bunny.
