The humane society has recently received a $5000 grant from the Western Financial western community foundation.

Angela Prette with the humane society was extremely happy with the amount of the grant and was pleasantly surprised to learn that employees from western financial were the ones who nominated the humane society for the grant.

The money itself has to be used for renovations or for construction of a new facility. Prette, "We're not sure exactly what we need to do yet with the new building we have been in talks with the city but were not sure if we can just repair it or if it's going to require a new build" she went on the mention the decision doesn't need to be made right away they can earmark the funds to be used when needed.

"The grant couldn't have come at a better time with the slower economy it's becoming more difficult to keep the light on and doors open' according to Prette.

They do request if anyone has plans to apply for any future grants on their behalf just call and let them know ahead of time. but Prette had said "if you plan to do it go for it that would be great"
