The Broken Arrow Youth Ranch held their breakfast fundraiser this past Sunday with all but one or two tables filled up.

For those who may not know, the ranch, is a home for children who've been separated from their families as their parents battle addictions.

"It's a chance to create awareness, Broken Arrow is about one big family helping other families," Todd Moroz, Director of Ministry with Broken Arrow who spoke passionately about their message on Sunday.

"We take in children from families who are struggling, and we work with the kids and work with their family to reunite them when they're doing better."

Following breakfast and the opening speech, guest speaker and local product Todd Holt shared his story of sexual abuse and the hardships he faced as a young teenager playing in the Western Hockey League.

"So many people have asked me how I could perform so well at hockey given what was going on with me away from the rink," Holt recalled of his time in Swift Current. "I just remember thinking that when I was out on that ice, that was the only time he couldn't (get to) me. It was just me and the fans."

"I had a secret I was going to take to the grave," Holt told the crowd. "But as it turns out, that secret almost put me in the grave."

Moroz also mentioned that Todd Holt did an awesome job of opening up and sharing from his life experiences.

"He encouraged us, he challenged us, and he had a huge impact on the people here today," Moroz said.

Concluding the breakfast, a live and silent auction took place which Moroz noted as a success.

"The auction was lots of fun, the people generously stepped up and purchased the items we had for auction"

The much talked about goat raffle took place as well where Joe Hyszka's name was picked as the winner.

All of the proceeds will go towards the Broken Arrow Youth Ranch.
