The Salvation Army Kettle Campaign is the biggest fundraiser of the year, leading into Christmas. It helps support all of the local programs that the Salvation Army runs, and they have not quite reached their goal.

Ronza Reynard Family Services Coordinator with the Salvation Army, "We're getting there, we are currently sitting at about 75% of our goal and we've got 4 days to do it. We have one or two locations that have some openings taking us into the weekend. All of them are on Saturday, so if people are looking for a bit of time to do something. They can give us a call and we can fit them in."

Reynard specifies, "Our overall goal was $100,000.00 between our kettles and our mail outs are sitting at 61%. We have a fair ways to go before the end of the year. We don't really give a grand total until we get to the end of the year. As we have donations coming in, right until the end of the year. So we're hoping we can get a little closer."

The Energy city is still coming together on a big scale to pack the food bank, "And we've had a couple food drives come in, the Bruins did one last night at the game and they brought in a truckload of food today. Making our shelves a little fuller, so we're very thankful for the support we're getting in the community."

Reynard gives the details as to what they use the money for throughout the year, "The money from the Kettles and our mail outs goes to help our programming all year. That's to send kids to camp in the summer, to send moms and kids to camp. Our back to school backpack program, buy food for the food bank, fresh produce and dairy products for the food bank. We do the community volunteer income tax program, so if we need any supplies for that. We just use it for anything that keeps our family services side of things running in town."

Resulting in the importance of reaching this amount and how helpful it is Reynard adds, "The importance of getting the goal, we set what we feel is going to be required for the next year. That is based on, how we have gone through this year. We felt that was a good goal that we could obtain, and help us carry our programs throughout the year. The community supports us year round, so I mean if our goal is not met by the end of this year. We're confident that we will still be able to go into 2019. Be able to help those in the community that still need our help."

The Salvation Army helps many families in the Energy City and without the support of the donations coming in, it would not be possible to help out each of those looking for a leg up.
