King Street has been paved from Pine Ave to Spruce Drive.Drivers in Estevan will be happy to know that the work on King Street is moving along. And it's shouldn't be too much longer now.

"We started paving last week," explained City Engineer, Kiflom Weldeab, "and we've paved up to the intersection of King and Spruce."

"Today they will be finishing off the intersection then meanwhile they will proceed with the remaining base work to go to Microtel. Once that is done, they will finish off from Microtel onward. It is not far now"

Weldeab added that he hopes to start opening the street to traffic soon.

"The thing is, you have to pre-mark the lines for lanes and we won't do all the painting until everything is completed but we will be putting in some temporary markers. As they progress slowly, we will keep marking them and opening them."

He thinks that the first section could be opened as soon as Wednesday. However, from Spruce Drive to Kensington Avenue will be closed until the completion of the project.

Due to a few rain delays at the beginning of the project, Weldeab estimates that the entire project will be completed in approximately a week and a half.
