The curtains have raised on the Lampman Community Theatre's production of "Ladies Night at the Legion" with proceeds going to the Lampman Legion.

"It was a fabulous audience," shared Maureen Ulrich, who wrote the play. "They were laughing at parts that we didn't even know they would laugh at."

"This cast deserves a lot of credit for buying in and doing the things I asked them to do. They stepped outside their comfort zone and they did things they wouldn't normally do, like dance."

"It's also a musical, we've incorporated some singing. There's dancing and there's live music, fiddle, guitar, piano. It's a fun show."

She shared that they preform in the Lampman Legion, and while it may not be an ideal setting, but it does have a good atmosphere and great acoustics. The proceeds of the show are going towards fixing up the Legion and helping them with their renovations.

"We turn over all proceeds to the Legion to help pay their expenses or any renovations they have coming up."

"We focused mostly on the Legion in the last two years. Last year they had done a lot of renovations, they needed to do some work on the roof. So we did a major fundraiser for them and this year, we had so much fun last year, we thought let's do it again. They did new bathrooms and they put in new flooring so people should just come and have a look at the building themselves and see the upgrades that they've done. It's a real warm, wonderful place and it has an important place in our community. We need to remember the people who made sacrifices so we can have the communities we have."

The Lampman Legion is also very excited about the success of the show so far.

"Sandy Hanrieder, one of the mainstays in the cast is also the president of the Legion, so it's great to have her on board. And the support form the community and surrounding areas has been fantastic."

The show is sold out tonight but tickets are still available for Saturday's show.

"We only do these once so if you don't see it, you can just hear people talk about next until the next one."
