A water main break has caused the Town of Lampman and surrounding RM to shut off water to residents.

"They're working on fixing it right now," explained Dena Scott, Assistant Administrator for the Town of Lampman and RM of Browning. "It just depends on how many problems they run into when they're doing it. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer."

Once water is restored, residents will be under a boil water advisory. Residents have already gone through an extended water advisory which had only been lifted on Monday, March 12.

"But as soon as the system is depressurized, we have to go under a precautionary drinking water advisory."

Scott noted, that during the repairs, workers discovered a value that wasn't working properly.

"They're going to have to replace it and in order to do that, we'll likely have to shut the water off again. It will just depend on how things go when we get the water turned back on and what they find out."

She added that could happen either tonight or Monday and they will try to give residents advanced notice regarding when the water will be shut off again.

"Because of the frost being so deep in the ground, we just had a break. There are several other communities around the area that are also in the same position, dealing with water main breaks all the time."
