Around $25,000 was raised throught the annual Poppy Drive by the Estevan Royal Canadian Legion this year.

"Our poppy campaign worked out excellent," shared President of the Estevan Legion, Lyle Dukart. "We have collected our goal and a little above."

He added his thanks to the community and their generosity.

"All the businesses that helped us out and all the community that helped us out, did an excellent job. We sure appreciate that and so do the veterans. How supportive they are to the Royal Canadian Legion and all the other community activities that we do."

He shared that the funds raised go towards veterans.

"It goes directly to help veterans, widows, modern day veterans if they need a hand, that's what it's all used for."

Dukart added that the fundraising to pay off the Legion's debt is also going very well and they are looking forward to giving back soon.

"There's still donations coming in. We've got a few more issues coming up but we're getting awful close to where we can see some daylight.
