The Saskatchewan government has made their next move in the political and legal chess match that has dominated the issue of carbon tax.

On Wednesday, Premier Scott Moe announced that the province is officially launching a challenge in court, and is asking whether the tax is actually constitutional.

"We said we were going to do it, so now we have done it," stated Estevan's MLA, Lori Carr.

With the file officially in the court system, they will now play the waiting game as the process runs it's course.

"There is nothing we can do in the meantime, but we will not be enforcing a carbon tax on the people of Saskatchewan," she said, "In all honesty, we just have to wait for the courts to look at the case that has been presented by the Ministry of Justice, and weigh in on the facts and merits of our argument."

"We don't really anticipate losing, but if something happened that we did, we will take in right to Supreme Court."
