Students from the Estevan Comprehensive School, Carnduff Education Complex and Oxbow school -OPHS had the opportunity to participate in a very interesting and unique learning experience

The School hosted the Tour for Humanity (T4H) bus on Monday. T4H is put on by The Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC)  from Toronto, ON. The bus is a 30 –seat, fully accessible, mobile human rights education centre.

The experience was led by FSWC facilitator Daniella Lurion, "The experience incorporates multimedia to provide students with an interactive learning experience."

The following link will take you to their website and there is a video overview on their homepage:  This is the first time the tour has been brought to Saskatchewan and their first time west of Winnipeg. They had different groups of students experience two of their workshops.

  • The Global Experience This workshop begins with a screening of a three-part documentary series produced by FSWC focusing on The Holocaust, Universal Genocide and Real-World Heroes. The Ten Stages of Genocide are then discussed in relation to the Holocaust and student discussion is encouraged. Suitable for Grades 9-12.
  • The Canadian Experience Workshop for your students- In this workshop, students learn about a variety of topics in Canadian history including the Indian Residential Schools System and the systemic internment of Japanese Canadians during the Second World War. Following a review of the past, current issues including cyber bullying and modern-day examples of intolerance are examined and discussed. Suitable for Grades 6-10.

Estevan area Holy Family schools and elementary students will also have this great learning experience on Tuesday, May 14th.
