The Divide County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that the situation is still active.

"Right now we don't have any updates. When we do, we'll be sure to notify the public. But as the situation stands, it's still active," explains Deputy Zach Schroeder with the D.C. Sheriff's Office.

Deputy Schroeder confirms that the schools are still on lockdown and it is unknown whether or not there are injuries.

Scary news Tuesday morning south of the border as a shooting incident in Crosby, North Dakota in the north west part of the town has prompted the lock down of two schools.

Town administration has verified the incident with DiscoverEstevan.com at 10am on Tuesday morning.

At this time, residents are being advised to stay away from the affected areas.

The incident has occurred in the north west part of the town. As a precaution, the Crosby Elementary and High School have been locked down and those in the buildings are safe.

Divide County Sheriff's office is being assisted by Minot SWAT at a shots fired call at a residence. Reports are that the shooting began before dawn.

No word yet on any injuries.
