While the weather may be frightful, families can still plan for some outdoor activities this weekend. The February long weekend marks a free fishing weekend for the entire province.

Regional Conservation Officer Lindsey Leko is inviting everyone to take advantage of the opportunity.

"We're encouraging people to participate in our annual free fishing weekend, which is Saturday and Sunday. During that time you aren't required to have a license," Leko said. "All the other rules will still apply, like your limits and the number of hooks. All the other legislation and rules pertaining to fishing are still in effect, you just don't need a license this weekend."

Ice fishing should be great all over Saskatchewan with the harsh cold snap being the only detriment.
