Construction work started yesterday along Midale's Main Street.

"Right now the construction crews are on Main Street," explained Al Hauglum, Mayor of Midale. "We are resurfacing Main Street with 3" asphalt."

"Then they will be moving to the south road which runs past the manor and connects with the 702 heading east of Lampman. They'll be making that into a heavy haul."

He added that drivers will need to find an alternate route around town.

"To get into Midale right now you have to use the accesses on each end of the town. On the east end, by the manor and hit the 70s for now. On the west side, there is access to come in through the back way."

Two residential streets, Stephen Street and Eisenhower Street North will also receive attention.

Crews are expected to start resurfacing Main Street on Monday and then will complete the other projects.

"They're going to be in town for three weeks, at least. We've got our fingers crossed that the weather holds out for us."

Hauglum also mentioned that the Town Administrator, Linda Dugan, is retiring today after 19 years.

"I'd like to wish her the best in her retirement."
