A blaze at a residence on Albert Street had the attention of fire crews on Saturday night.

"Shortly after midnight, Estevan Fire Rescue was alerted to a reported structure fire and that the occupant of the home may still be inside. Crews arrived on scene to find the structure fully engulfed on the front side, both the dining and living room area. We established suppression lines, did a complete 360 of the home, and made entry. The homeowner was actually found and rescued out of the backside of the house and turned over to EMS for treatment," shared Fire Chief Dale Feser.

The occupant was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation and minor injuries. Feser added that the structure remains standing, though with extensive damage inside, and the cause is under investigation.
