Ministry of Highways personnel have been in the trucks for hours already across the roads in rural southeast Saskatchewan.

DiscoverEstevan has received reports of a large line of backed up traffic on Highway 39 heading towards North Portal. Semi traffic seems to be struggling to make the ascent through the Roche Percee hills.

According to spokesperson Steve Shaheen, if a salt or sand truck hasn't passed your way yet, it's only a matter of time.

"They are out. They're working as quickly as they can. Certainly, they're treating the areas that have the most traffic on them first, to get that moving along. It doesn't mean that other routes aren't important to them, it's just that they're trying to get to the spots where the most traffic is currently flowing," he stated.

"Sometimes we're at the mercy of Mother Nature, and patience is a virtue. Crews are...doing their best to clear things up so traffic can start moving again."
