The Board of Directors and the staff of Mainprize Regional Park are glad to see one of their long-term wishlist items finally become a reality, nd it's right there on the beach.

"This year we got a new playground structure for the beach with a swing and some monkey bars, it has some climbing apparatus with some slides on the main structure, a couple of little games attached to them like they often do, and we also got this special swing," said Business Manager Donna Frank.

The swing to which Frank was referring is accessible for anyone, meaning it's safe for toddlers, the elderly, and, in particular, those with special needs.

"The last three, four years it's kind of been put on our budget items and then taken off," she explained. "One of the board members Aaron Tolts came forward this year and said, 'if I fundraise for half, will the park pay the other half?'"

She said the new play structure cost $40,000 in all, with $25,000 of it being raised through the fundraising efforts, and the rest was covered by sponsors from businesses, groups, and families throughout the southeast.

"We were really lucky to have such generous people give towards this place structure and make it happen," she commented.

"The sponsors for the playground structure were Pro Canada West and they also fully sponsored the swing that is there," she noted. "Other sponsors include Juryman, Elemented, Bentwood Cabins, Mainprize Investment Group, Streamline Oilfield, Mainprize Cabin owners, the Watson family, Cracker, Mainprize Slow Pitch committee, Chiron Trucking, and Hoium Agencies," she added.
