Temperatures for Estevan and surrounding areas are looking to be sunny for the weekend.

"We're looking forward to pretty sunny skies in the Southeast corner of the province there's not going to be much going on over the weekend. We do have a cold front that looks like it will be sweeping through late in the day Saturday and with that you'll see a big drop in temperatures Saturday to Sunday but in terms of skies, they look like they'll be pretty clear and there's not much participation forecasts for the region. It's looking like a pretty sunny and clear weekend without much in terms of weather, just a big drop in temperatures from Saturday to Sunday," explained Regional Meteorologist John Paul Cragg.

"So we're looking at a high of around 29 degrees tomorrow and then temperatures are forecasted to drop down to a high of around 22 degrees for Sunday, so it's a little bit of a drop of 7 degrees from one day to the next thanks to that cold front. Then temperatures look like they'll inch u a little bit at the beginning of next week."

"By the time we get to the beginning of the next week there's potential for other low pressure systems to start to pass across the province. What we have that's bringing the clear skies is we've got this big area of a low pressure system that's actually developing up in the North West Territories and down in Southern Saskatchewan we've got a bit of an area of high pressure that's going to keep the skies fairly clear. That low starts to move out on Sunday and Monday through North West Territories east and in behind we've got a chance for systems to start to develop and move through the area again," he stated.

"Now it doesn't look like there is much in terms of active weather at the beginning of next week but we're going to have to wait and see how this low moves out through the North West Territories, how quickly it moves out before we can really accurately predict what the weather is going to be like early next week."

The sky is expected to be mostly clear during the solar eclipse on Monday.

"Right now we're forecasting very little clouds in the sky which is probably the best forecast. The sky will be fairly clear for the solar eclipse but again since we're looking further out and since we have this area of low pressure up in the north that still has to slowly move out of the area, there could be some changes to that forecast. Right now we're looking pretty clear for the solar eclipse," expressed John Paul Cragg.

There hasn't been a lot of rain and thunderstorm activity in the Southeast this summer.

"The southeast is looking like we'll be ending August with fairly normal temperatures and probably a little bit dryer than average, that's what the models are suggesting right now. As of the middle of August the Southeast corner was close to average precipitation. The models are suggesting that to end August, precipitation will be a little bit lower than average but temperatures will be close to average for this time of year."
