Dr. Robert Kitchen, MP for Souris-Moose Mountain hosted town hall meetings in Coronach on Monday and in Bienfait this evening.

Kitchen explains, "The main reason for me calling this is so I can hear from the miners and from the SaskPower workers about where they see things should be going and getting them to give me ideas and advice on how to proceed."

There were quite a few in attendance and a few of the audience gave their opinions and their thoughts on the where we should go with coal energy. Mayor of Estevan, Roy Ludwig and the Mayor of Bienfait, Paul Carroll were in attendance as well as Jackie Wall, Executive Director for Chamber of Commerce in Estevan also offered their thoughts on the matter as well.

"Between tonight and our meeting in Coronach I've heard a lot. There's obviously a lot of concern, and there is some concern as to where things are going. What I've heard a lot of is how positive they see carbon capture, and the technology that's there, also how do we advance that, and how do we advance that not only here with the unit at Boundary 3, but how can we maybe encourage people to put them on Shand, or Unit 6 or even out at Poplar River and how do we look at that."

"This will be a challenge for the provincial government and Sask Power to come up with that decision. The people here aren't saying they want a payout, they want a job and I'm so extremely proud of that because they want to work."
