The Dog Park being constructed by the Kinsmen & Kinettes club now has a name, after receiving a hefty donation.

They received a $10,000 cheque from Prairie Animal Health Centre, which gave the organization naming rights to the park for the next 6 years.

That name will be the Prairie Animal Health Centre Dog Park In Partnership With The Kinsmen & Kinettes.

Jake Porter, the Project Lead for the Kinsmen & Kinettes, details some of what that money is going towards.

"Right now we are just considering constructing a fence to go all the way around the park," said Porter," There are two sides, from a fence that's already existing, and we're just constructing another two sides to the rest of the park itself."

Porter says that one of the hopes for the park is to set up a way for dog owners to let their pets play and exercise off the leash, without having to get in a car to travel.

"It's well known that dogs need to their exercise and need to be outside and they need regular exercise, along with their owners too," said Porter, "So we hope that people will be able to access the park more easily instead of having to drive to the edge of town. and they can just walk to the park, exercise their animals, and just continue to walk from there."

Porter says they've heard a lot of excitement for the new park.

"We know lots of people with dogs," said Porter, "We've talked to a few around town and friends we have and everyone's excited to have this in the urban area and close to where they live."

Porter says they're hoping to start construction in the third week of September, with construction hopefully ending soon after it starts.

They're partnering up with local business borderline fencing.

Porter says the Estevan Kinsmen & Kinettes are proud to be able to help the community and thanked Prarie Animal Health Centre and everyone else who helps make these projects possible.
