With the long weekend coming up people want to see clear skies and sunny days.

"Saturday afternoon, there's a slight chance that the Estevan area could see an isolated shower or short lived non severe thunderstorm kind of later this afternoon early into this evening," stated Amanda Prysizney with Environment Canada Climate Change.

"There's a higher likely hood of showers and potentially thunderstorms for Sunday afternoon. There's a low pressure system that's kind of sitting more over northern Alberta and North West Territories and that's going to move south east and develop in the central prairies such as central Saskatchewan. So that's expected to kick up a little more showers and thunderstorms for Sunday afternoon and early evening."

"Monday looks quite nice, so that low pressure system pushes off eastward into southern Manitoba bringing in clear sunny skies for Monday for the area, maybe a mix of sun and cloud," she explained.

"In terms of what happened Friday, there was a number of funnel clouds in the area. I have four official reports, some of them are tricky to say if they were reports of the same funnel clouds but they  were in the same area. I have a report just north west of Kisbey, just south of Hitchcock, another report of Kisbey which may or may not have been the same one and there's also a report of several funnel clouds right around the same time around Estevan."

"We have not confirmed that any of these have touched the ground. They seem to be quite skinny and rope like, they don't look like what you would expect a normal tornado to look like. It's almost like a string coming down from the clouds."

"We don't have any damage reports at all from these. There's also one that happened just south of Killarney, Manitoba which looks a little more intense and a little more interesting but we don't have any reports of that touching the ground or damage reports either," expressed Amanda.

"Given the long weekend especially, keep an eye on the Environment Canada alerts, so any severe thunderstorm watch and warnings. Like I said, we don't expect thunderstorms that develop this weekend to be severe but there's always the chance that things could change slightly. So just keep an eye on the forecast on Environment Canada's website as well as the alerts."
