The legalization of cannabis in Canada is creeping closer and everyone that has anything to do with the budding industry is trying to get their to-do list done.

Wednesday, October 17th is the big day and safety officials are some of the busiest people. SGI is just one of the groups, along with the police, who are making sure the message is getting out there. Don't Drive High.

Communication Consultant Tyler McMurchy says that at the end of the day, it's about being safe while being behind the wheel.

"No matter what you're doing, if you're somewhere where you're going to be using something that impairers you, whether it's alcohol or drugs and this goes for now and after October 17th, if you're going to be using a substance that impairs you, please plan a safe ride home beforehand."

McMurchy also noted that police officers have gone through vigorous training and have update equipment for field sobriety tests.
