It's been one year to the day that Estevan hosted the Saskatchewan Summer Games.

Mayor Roy Ludwig shared that he has fond memories of the event.

"That was just a fantastic event. It came when we were working through tougher times in our community and it couldn't have come at a better time. It kind of revitalized the community, it brought everyone together."

He adds that the facilities that were built for the games such as the running track and tennis courts are a welcome enhancement for the city.

"We still have legacy projects that are in place from the summer games that will stand good within the community for many years to come."

"They were all very well done. And although they will need some maintenance day to day, which of course we're going to deal with and take care of and keep them up, but we're so happy to have those additions to our community."
