The Town of Oxbow came together on Thursday to celebrate the holiday season.

Each year the town gathers around this time to officially kick off Christmas, by lighting the towns tree in downtown Oxbow at Pocket Park. Among the events that took place throughout the day were pictures with Santa, live nativity, caroling, a free chili supper and turkey bingo's.

"The turnout at all our events has been awesome, this is really a big kick off to Christmas in Oxbow and people are really enthused," explained Oxbow's Community Development Officer, Tami Scott. "It's really grown over the years, It's almost been going on for ten years and this is something that the town is committed too."

"I love it, I was helping Santa out earlier and we had lot's of really bright eyes and a few tears too, but that's expected," Scott shared.

A big hit for the kids was a pair of sheep that completed the nativity scene inside the downtown's Pocket Park.

"That was my favorite part," explained a young girl named Phoebe Schultz. "They were fluffy, It was a lot of fun singing Christmas carols and I got to see a lot of my friends."

Another youngster in attendance was Eli Bartlett, who got to meet Santa and explain how the two sheep got their names.

"They're really fluffy, the black one is ours. Those two were born at the same time, so they named them sunshine and moonshine."

If there's one thing that can be said, the Town of Oxbow kicks off the Christmas season in style.
