Victor Omoruyi and Michelle Strawford-Omaruyi were sentenced this afternoon at Estevan Provincial Courthouse for their part in a human smuggling operation. They both pleaded guilty to one count of human smuggling each and one count of possession of proceeds of crime each.

Mr Omaruyi received a nine-month jail sentence along with a $20,000 fine plus $200 victim surcharge. 

Ms Straword-Omaruyi received a twelve-month conditional sentence order. During the first two months of that order, she must abide by a curfew from 11 pm to 6 am. She must also complete 40 hours of community service within the first six months of the order. She will also have to pay a $10,000 fine along with a $200 victim surcharge.
