So far it's been a busy long weekend for the Estevan Police Service, mostly on the days leading up to Canaday Day. Two major incidents included a stabbing and drug-related arrest.

Officers conducted a cocaine trafficking investigation on an Estevan male, and on Friday, they arrested him outside a convenience store near the downtown area, according to a media release.

A search of the man's vehicle turned up cocaine, psilocybin, approximately $1,300, six knives and a minature metal bat. The vehicle was also seized as offence related property.

They then conducted a search warrant at the male's residence on the North East side of Estevan, and found more cocaine, marijuana, eight rifles, ammunition, a machete, and other items used for the sale and distribution of cocaine. The male under investigation was not authorized to possess any firearms, nor were the firearms stored in line with the regulatory standards, according to police.

Darby Allen Pick, 56, of Estevan was charged with the following offences...

  • Trafficking cocaine.
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.
