Saskatchewan just may live up to the phrase 'Land of Living Skies' commonly attributed to it,  as a storm system making it's way in has the potential for some severe weather.

"Right now we're watching the radar and we've got showers streaming up your way from Montana. They're associated with a warm front which is lifting slowly northward. By about mid afternoon, we're expecting some of the thunderstorms to start really taking off over southeastern Saskatchewan," said Environment Canada's Mark Melsness.

"(There's) definitely a risk of some severe storms, and also a threat of tornadoes, too. That would be over the southeast corner of Saskatchewan and the southwest corner of Manitoba."

He expects things to really pick up around mid afternoon and to last into the early evening.

Melsness advises to keep alert for severe thunderstorm or tornado warnings, and to keep your eyes on the sky.
