Rain could very well be in the forcast over this weekend. Estevan already saw some light showers today, but as Regional Meterologist, John Paul Cragg explained, more could be on the way.

"By tomorrow that low pressure system will be bringing rain into the Estevan area and we're looking at showers beginning in the morning and a risk of thunderstorms by the afternoon."

"And that risk of rain looks like it continues all through the night Saturday. And then by Sunday, the sky starts to clear up, the temperature warms a little bit and there's a couple days, Sunday, Monday, and potentially Tuesday, the sun will be shining and the temperatures will pop up to close to the mid twenties before the chance of rain comes again for Saskatchewan on Wednesday or even Tuesday night."

The rain next week could be a welcome sight to many in the area as the southeast has not seen very much moisture lately.

"Estevan so far this month has only seen 28 millimeters of precipitation and most of that was thanks to the 14th when 23.5 mm fell. The average precipitation for the month of June is around 75 mm so Estevan is well below the average precipitation for June and it will take quite a bit of rain to get close to the average for the southeast corner of the province."

Cragg mentioned that with a thunderstorm, it is important to take the proper precautions to avoid being hit by a lightning strike.

"Lightning can strike well in advance of a thunderstorm and well behind a thunderstorm."
