The showers we are experiencing are expected to stick around for a little longer.

"Pretty much what people are seeing," explains regional meteorologist, Brian Proctor, "is what they're going to get at least for the first half of the weekend."

"We saw about one millimeter yesterday, and more today so far. The amounts aren't going to be tremendously high, but they're going to be enough to slow down harvest for people unfortunately."

"Through the day Saturday, it looks as though it will be a little patchy through the morning and then become more significant through the afternoon. I would guess another 5-10 mm which is probably not going to help harvest all that much at this point in time unfortunately. We're staying in this elongated area of rain rotating through. So it looks like it's going to continue to rain through the evening tonight and into much of the day and evening tomorrow as well."

However, the second part of the weekend should see the return of the sun.

"Things are going to eventually dry out overnight Saturday night and Sunday morning and we're actually in for a fairly nice Sunday and Monday."

"People are going to get a little bit cold, a little bit damp over the next 36 hours and the gradual drying through Sunday into Monday."

"Sunday we're looking at a generally sunny day. Highs bounding up from the 9 we're seeing right now up to 16 on Sunday, 20 on Monday. So it should dry fairly quickly. Winds aren't going to be really strong, but it should be enough of a breeze to help dry things."

He added that this is the time of year when temperatures and weather conditions can swing back and forth.

"And then we get into a a typical changeable fall pattern. Tuesday through Thursday look very changeable with a chance of showers but nothing like an organized system coming through."
