RCMP say that a vehicle discovered in remote bush north of Esterhazy is that of Ruby Barnes, who was reported as missing on June 18th.

"A few days ago, we did find a vehicle in a very remote area that hadn't been seen in quite awhile. We did realize, shortly after we discovered the vehicle, that human remains were in proximity," shared the RCMP's Corporal Rob King.

"At this point, we're taking steps to positively identify the remains, and until they are identified through either dental records or forensic autopsy, and possibly DNA if required, we can't say exactly who we believe the remains are."

The crash scene is located 130 kilometers north of the town. Investigators are waiting until they see what a scheduled autopsy on Friday shows.

"At this moment, this case is isolated to just human remains discovered near a vehicle. There are things pointing to other files, but at this point, until we're 100 percent sure of the identification, there's not much more we can do until we're sure."

Ruby Barnes' family has been notified of the development. As of yet, the death is not considered suspicious.
