The Estevan RCMP are thanking the public after receiving four calls on Tuesday regarding possible impaired drivers in the area. Two of those calls resulted in a further investigation.

"We had one that came in," explained Cpl Craig Park, "a driving complaint on Highway 39 coming in from Macoun. As a result, we ended up stopping the vehicle. As a result of the traffic stop, it led to a drug investigation."

After a search, Methamphetamine and marijuana were found in the vehicle. An Estevan man and a Regina man were charged with possession of a Controlled Substance and were also issued traffic fines stemming from the original traffic violation.

"The second offence again was a call from the public, of an erratic driver, possibly impaired driver. Which resulted in us later locating the vehicle and performing a traffic stop which resulted in a short suspension. That one remains under investigation."

Cpl Park added that these arrests wouldn't have been possible without the support from the public.

"We can't say enough with the RID program. As police officers, we can't be everywhere so it is important that the public call these in and we do appreciate when they do. This is a small example of why it's important that the public call it in."

Drivers are reminded to call 911 from a hands-free device or pull over before making the call.
