The past few days have seen the first occasion of snow warranting removal equipment this year for the City of Estevan.

"The accumulation in the last snow event wasn't a whole lot. It blew around buildings and places where it shouldn't be. We just cleared some of the downtown parking lanes, they were rutted and full of snow," said Roads and Drainage Manager Norm Mack, "We just cleaned off a couple blocks to make driving in those lanes and parking easier."

He noted that, along with moving the little bit of snow, it perhaps gave a chance to test and fine tune the equipment ahead of larger snow events to come.

"As far as further snow removal, it'll be very limited. We'll monitor the streets for ice and use the sanding trucks, but as far as spending a bunch of money at this bit of snow we got, we certainly will not be."
