It was a record holiday season for Canada Post, as the modern methods of Christmas shopping really showed their effects.

Director of Product Development and Parcels Valerie Normand says that 2016's deliveries grew exponentially since 4 years ago. They saw 20 business days in a row, 26 days total, where they delivered over one million parcels per day.

"2012 was the very first time that we hit a milestone like that, and we made two days that year."

She noted that their peak started in mid-November, and carried on through the first two weeks of January.

"It's all attributed to e-commerce. We've seen tremendous growth in that over the last 4 years, and we are definitely at the forefront of it with our retailers."

"This is not something that just happened to us. We've worked very, very hard to be in that space, and we've been partners with those retailers from the beginning," she expressed.

Normand added that they have made a lot of improvements and innovations within Canada Post to ensure that the customer gets their package in a timely manner.

"We take it to heart. We really want to delight the end consumer and make sure that the gifts get to their homes in time for Christmas."

She noted that 2017 will busy for them as well, as they have already seen one million parcel days in January.

"I think it will be another record breaking year," she said as she added that they will continue to endeavour to grow.
