You can once again recycle your plastic bags and glass containers in the single stream recycling.

"A few months back," explained Jim Webber, General Manager for Saskatchewan South Green for Life, "We had to make some changes with our single stream recycling program that we have for our resident carts in Estevan."

"It was due to the commodity markets, it's no different from your oil field with the ups and downs. And for the lack of somewhere to go with our single-stream recycling, with regard to the glass and the plastic bags, it used to go over to China's National Source program. There were some changes that affected a lot of the companies as well as GFL with regards to taking the recycling products there."

"After extensive review and we've done some digging to see if we could find another provider who would start taking our glass and plastic bags in the residential carts, we were able to find another end user that will look after that for us."

Residents can now add glass containers and plastic bags back to their blue carts. Webber added that he is happy to see that once again.

"Recycling is such as huge thing as part of GFL and we pride ourselves on the fact that we do want to recycle as much as we possibly can. Now being able to find another source to take it to, it makes us very happy to put that service back in."
